Abstract

The origin, structure and organization of the state farm, sector and the current cropping patterns on its some 200,000 ha are described. Weed problems are noted as an important constraint on productivity, often because of the predominant practice of mono cropping, Suggestions are made on how these problems may be reduced by an integrated approach.
